TYLER JAMES - A Place I Go

Last night I went to see Tyler James perform in Birmingham on the second night of his tour. Tyler James recently rose to fame in this years series of The Voice where he was runner up, and most popular for singing a cover of the well known Higher Love.

He released his first song Single Tear on 7th October, followed by his album, A Place I Go, on 29th October 2012, which he wrote in just 11 weeks.

The gig was held at The Glee Club in the centre of Birmingham; a small intimate setting, which was perfect for the mood of his songs. As Tyler stept on to the stage, a huge cheer from the smallish crowd erupted, and he began singing a selection of songs from his album. After the first three songs he welcomed us to his gig and modestly told us how lucky he was to be here and how his first year as a successful music artist has been. The crowd went on with an "aww" as he explained how he's been ill for the past two weeks, although his voice still sounded incredible live.

His singing was amazing, as he varied from his normal tone to falcetto, with me and the rest of the crowd attempting to join in! He was one of the best artists I've seen performing as he was pitch perfect, as well as being so modest which made him so much more attractive! He ended with his first single Single Tear which had the crowd cheering until he left the stage.

If you haven't heard his songs then get on to Youtube or buy his album from Itunes or Amazon. For a first album, it is really good and has some great songs that will leave you wanting more!

Christmas Comes to Birmingham

Today is the opening of the well know Frankfurt Christmas Market, which runs through the high street in Birmingham.

The German Market is lighting up the centre of Birmingham with it's range of stalls, rides and plenty of Christmas spirit to go around. But is it too early to be thinking about Christmas?

I went to the market last year with a few friends, and it really got us in the Christmassy spirit! The colourful lights, yummy food and the handmade gifts all amongst the hustle and bustle, was a great experience and I'll definitely be going back again this year.

The 180 wooden chalets selling handmade toys, candles, gifts and tasty treats have attracted visitors from all over the country, making the market one of Birmingham's favourite Christmas events.

Personally, I am very excited to go back to the market, especially for the chocolate pancakes and also to try some of the Glühwein, which is the traditional German mulled wine.

The market is also a good place to buy a few Christmas gifts and a lovely place to go with your friends or family for a day or evening out. Let me know if you go and how your experience is! Enjoy!

Hello November and hello readers

It's been a few weeks since I last posted, and I can't believe we are already well on our way though November! I've realised that as my readers, you don't know much about me... so read on for some ramble about my life!

My name is Gemma and I am a student at Birmingham City University, currently studying media. I am an aspiring journalist/presenter/both of those... so I hope to one day be on your television screens reading the news or something else equally as fun!

This year has gone so quickly, and it doesn't seem that long ago when I was starting to panic about Christmas 2011... and now the panic for 2012 is starting again!
I have spent the day lazing around my freezing cold student house in Birmingham (still yet to shower...) looking up ideas for Christmas presents for my family, friends and boyfriend on the internet. I've also had an amusing last few hours as three of my housemates emerged from their rooms after a night out looking like death, and after two of them layed of the sofa, and one threw up, they have all gone back to bed...

My life currently consists of university Monday-Thursday, followed by a long weekend of uni work (sometimes...) and lazing (most the time). I'm also a presenter on Scratch Radio, our student university station, in which I co-present a two hour show every Wednesday from 1-3... www.scratchradio.co.uk.

I am a girl, and I love girly things. My bedroom walls are covered in photos set out in the shape of the heart, and mydouble bed is pretty much a single bed due to the number is cushions and teddies on it. I also like flowers and fluffy things... (feel free to take the mick...)

I also love food. But then again who doesn't? My favourite food would probably have to be chocolate... chocolate spread, chocolate milkshake, chocolate anything. Last night me and my housemate devoured a whole bar of diary milk and a bag of sweets between us after ordering a Chinese takeaway and happily scoffing that down in two minutes.

My favourite colour is yellow, but I have a slight fear of bananas...
If you wave a banana in my face, I will get angry and I will run away. I will not eat a banana and I will not touch a banana. So please don't try and make me

I love posting on my blog, especially about celebrities, articles and other things that happen in the world of media. In the upcoming months I'll try and post a few times a week and let you know what is going on in my world, and the media world :)

Meanwhile, have a scroll down and look at my previous posts if any of them take your fancy!
